Richard Stallings, chairman of the Idaho Democratic Party and one of the Democrats' most prominent figures of the last 20 years, is stepping down as party leader, top party officials confirmed late Thursday.

BOISE -- Idaho Democratic Party Chairman Richard Stallings is stepping down. Party officials say the 67-year-old Stallings began sharing his plans with Democratic leaders Thursday, but plans a public announcement Friday.
